Read: I Peter 3:10-11

READ: Devotional

Every great step in life requires thought. And more often than not, we're faced with the prospect of CHANGING OUR MINDS. It's not always easy, but there's no growth without it. CHANGE YOUR MIND—CHANGE YOUR WORLD. It all begins when we individually commit to developing A BEAUTIFUL MIND.

When we learn how to do this we “make the teaching about God our Savior attractive in every way,” as Paul wrote in his epistle to Titus (chapter 2, verse 10). I once heard the great pulpit orator R. G. Lee explain this concept as “beautifying the teachings of Jesus.”

Indeed.

If we are to truly manifest the teachings of our Lord in all their beauty before a watching world, we must begin with our minds. And probably the most concise grouping of attitudes to cultivate is found in the Sermon on the Mount (Matthew 5:3-9). We know the seven principles Jesus shared 2,000 years ago as “The Beatitudes.” Based on those timeless truths, here are some great rules to live by—in fact, they’re BEAUTIFUL!

TO RISE HIGH, STAY LOW. (Matthew 5:3)

TO BE WHOLE, LIVE BROKEN. (Matthew 5:4)

TO BE INFLUENTIAL, BE REASONABLE.  (Matthew 5:5)

TO GROW, STAY PASSIONATE ABOUT SPIRITUAL THINGS. (Matthew 5:6)

TO RECEIVE RELATIONAL MERCY, GIVE RELATIONAL MERCY. (Matthew 5:7)

TO BE CLEAR, GET CLEAN & STAY CLOSE. (Matthew 5:8)

TO BE REMEMBERED, PRACTICE AND PROCLAIM RECONCILIATION (Matthew 5:9)

Living Biblically begins with THINKING Biblically.

 reflect:

  • Why do some Christians seem to be angry all the time?
  • How can we be BOLD without being ARROGANT?
  • How do we develop and maintain a clean heart?
