READ: Exodus 17:8-13 (CSB)
DEVOTIONAL:
Ministry shouldn’t be a cult of personality. Beware the leader that draws your heart to him and not to
Jesus. Anyone who pretends to be a man of God yet presents himself as indispensable to the work of God
is a charlatan and a deceiver.
Elisabeth Elliot is a brilliant Christian authors and a woman whose character is reminiscent of Ruth. Her
courage and unwavering faith in the face of trials is an inspiration to anyone who has ever faced
heartbreak. After her husband was murdered on the mission field, she was asked what she would do next.
“Does it make sense to pray for guidance about the future if we are not obeying in the thing that lies
before us today? How many momentous events in Scripture depended on one person’s seemingly small act
of obedience! Rest assured: Do what God tells you to do now, and, depend upon it, you will be shown
what to do next.”
REFLECTION:
Prepare yourself with God’s promises.
Our church isn’t built on people. It’s built on promises.
Bring people who know God’s promises with you.
